About gallery

The Wannieck Gallery Brno is a non-profit contemporary art gallery. Its main focus is on exhibiting contemporary Czech and world painting and object art. The gallery is also engaged in building a collection of works of the 1980's and 1990's generation of Czech painters and of those representing the latest trends in painting. The gallery concentrates its efforts on collecting works of top representatives of the young generation of Central European artists (Butzer, Selg, Helbig, A. Lehman, etc.) while enlarging its collection of conceptual, minimalist and geometric art (G. Miller, J.M. Voskulil, Th. Heinzmann and others). An area exceeding 3.000 square metres and consisting of the main exhibition hall and two contained galleries obtained by the revitalization of a factory hall dating from the 19th century has been used for exhibitions since 2006.
The gallery is located within a 10 minute walking distance from the city centre and is one of the fine art centres in Brno. In addition to the exhibiting and collecting activities, the gallery is also very active in critical writing and publishing.
