Pavel Hayek

Pavel Hayek is partially self-taught. He attended the Music School of Jaroslav Kvapil in Brno; he was very much influenced by Prof. Petr Skácel. Nevertheless, since his youth he has forged his own way. In the late 1980s he created, amongst other things, cycles of graphics which were – to some extent – a certain resonance of Morandi still life works. The real beginning of his work is probably the painting Garlic, created sometime in summer 1990, where he used – perhaps for the first time – the motif of a product of nature to create an image field.
For the exhibition at the Gallery on the Bridge, Pavel Hayek has selected paintings created mainly over the past two years. Represented are both „tree structures” and structures created by „putting together” minor natural elements (small leaves, seeds, etc.) to complete the picture area. Very interesting are also the regularly shaded structures of products of nature which, as a consequence, make basically a three-dimensional impression. Their logical conclusion is then a macrostructure as a certain form of the finally achieved objective.
