Václav Girsa - YESTERDAY MORNING TOMORROW
22.6.2010 - 10.10.2010
One of the most distinctive personalities of the young Czech painting scene presents himself through a collection of paintings created mainly for this exhibition at the Wannieck Gallery. His expressive approach to the works is applied at various levels and creates a very original and concurrently varied image as a whole.
Václav Girsa graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague – the Studio of Vladimír Skrepl. He started his studies somewhat later than most other students, already as a „partly finished” artist, and during the course he basically developed the prerequisites and backgrounds already outlined before starting his studies. He was not afraid to experiment and try various approaches to his works, which sometimes resulted in an interconnection of the „traditional“ art of painting with certain other techniques (the art of action, etc.). He alternated orthodox expression with the creation of purely geometric images and sometimes also tried to unite these various techniques.
Therefore, in the cycle for the exhibition entitled YESTERDAY MORNING TOMORROW he quite logically selected a technique that could be described as „10 different approaches to the creation of a painting“.
